Web Page Counters

If you'd like to incorporate a page counter into your web pages, you might want to consider one of the following free counters that are offered on the Internet. These counters do not require you to set up complicated cgi-scripts on your server. You only add the corresponding code to your page and, voilá, your own page counter.

  • Here's a partial listing:

http://pet.pagecount.com  -  they put a big banner on your site, with a counter as one of the boxes. It provides extremely detailed stats.

http://www.freestats.com  -  they also put a banner on your page, but this service gives you some GIFs to use as the actual counter, so you can do something like: "<p>This page has been accessed <their image> times.</p>" They also provide REALLY detailed statistics, but only for the last two days.

http://www.fastcounter.com  -  this is LinkExchange's counter, and while not that impressive, it's definitely good: it's fast, reliable, and won't get in people's way.

If you create and manage your site with FrontPage 98, then you might want to use the page counter that comes with FP98.
